PCH Car Rally
An amusing story.....
A few weeks ago I signed up on the internet for a car rally going from L.A., along PCH (Pacific Coast Highway), to Oxnard (a 1.5 hour drive). So, last Saturday, I made up sandwiches and coffee and drove down with a friend to the meeting place in the mall parking lot. Got there at 9:45 am for a start at 10:00. Not a single car there. Read the web page printout again....right place, right time....wrong day!
Next day, did the same thing all over again. This time, it was the right place, right time, right day, wrong crowd. All the other cars were either souped up, lowered, or just plain gross Civics, Eclipses, etc. And all the guys looked like they were about 18 and pretty threatening while looking over at my S2K. No wonder the paperwork said "no guns, no knives, no alcohol, no hot-dogging..."! Needless to say, I decided to make as though I was driving to MacDonald's on the other side of the parking lot, then when we got there, I promptly took a quick left turn, and we were out of there!
Next time I'll make sure I only go with the good guys - S2K owners I mean!

There is a rally in New Jersey this Saturday. I don't know anyone in this group but I wanted to check it out. I don't get the impression that any of their forms are going to have warnings about guns.
Unfortunately I can't make it. ( I can't believe I'm missing a day of driving to have an interior decorator tell me what furniture I need to buy ))

Too bad. I would have liked to have gone.

NJTom2000 - Now that looks like a fun run. Wish I could make it over there to join you.
Ditch the interior designer, and pick up an Ethan Allen catalog on the way back from the meet instead!

He he he. Ya never know what to expect on those things. I went to one once where some seemingly respectable, law-abiding guys ended up drag-racing on a public road...at 11AM...with traffic...and they were in Porsches.
I was like: OK I can't afford a lawsuit right now so I'm gonna go ahead an get the eff outta here BYE!
