People ask: Is this a Z3 or a Mercedes?
I've just got my S2000 two weeks back and it does attract a lot of attention.
One cop said (don't ask
)
"Wow, it is a very nice car. What is it?"
"A Honda S2000."
"When does Honda start to make something like BMW?"
One Neighbor:
"Is this a Mercedes?"
One coworker:
"A Honda? You can affort a Boxster. Why a buy a Honda?"
I think Honda did a great job on the car but miss it big time to promote the car to the public. For my part, I love the car for it's body and it's "soul".

The S2000 doesn't at all resemble any other convertible. Similar in proportions to a miata but the headlights alone (the styling, not the brightness
) give that away. Most people don't know jack about cars though, so I get a lot of "is that a porsche? or is it a BMW?" type questions, and people will tell their friends that I bought a Z3. Life goes on

When I first got my car in 99, the typical comment would be "what kind of car is that? new BMW, Porsche? Now it's pretty typical in LA and everybody knows it's a Honda. However, you still get plenty of attention.

If they don't shout "Nice S2000!!! Rev the engine!!!" I'm typically asked what kind of car it is...
Now, being foreign (Dutch in the US) I evidently can't pronounce Honda properly. I say it with a short -o- like "hunda"...
About nine out of ten discussions go something like this:
Person: "What kinda car is that"
Siepel: "This is a *honda*!"
Person: "This is a what?"
Siepel: "A *honda* ... S2000!"
Person: "A Hyundai?"
Siepel: "No, it's a Hoaoaoaoaoaoaondaaah"
Person: "Ooohh... A Hoaoaoaoaoaoandaaah"
Of course, then there was also the old guy shouting from his window "It that the new MG???"
