Default Peoples reaction to your car

Just wanted to see what people have noticed about other people's reactions toward the S2000 or other nice car. This is mostly for the younger crowd.

I haven't gotten ANY negative feedback from people. Which is suprising to me Being a young person with a nice $30,000 car. No negative jealousy, nothing.
When I had my 94 Acura Legend last year I got tons of people pissed off that I had a nicer car than them. It got to where I would see someone start to give me a dirty look and I would just ignore them because I knew what it was about. I even had someone in a beater flip me off for no reason other than the fact that I was young and driving a luxury car. Now it's totally the opposite!

Reactions come in both extremes...

Either stares and "Hey man, nice car!" or dirty looks, anger, jealously and usually accomulating in the middle finger. And in some cases, even worse, when they vandalize or key your car.

Dude,

I am 23 years old. Traded my Mitusbishi Galant in for the S2k. The car kicks ass. Pulls chicks. People in my office were like "whoa" who the hell is this kid. Some think my parents paid for it. Thats not the case.

You might as well get an race car when you are 20' something. Otherwise you got to wait till you hit a midlife crisis in your 40's and 50's. By that time your pumping the Viagra, using the Grecian formula, joined the Just for Men Hair Club, and got your AARP card. Enjoy life while you are young.

Feels great to feel the wind blowing through my hair while I still have some. Road head from 20 something year olds in the S2k ain't bad either. Damn that Xbone center console gets in the way!!

okay well I have had the car almost a month and I have experienced negative side and the positive..

Positive;

Hey man Awsome car wow!!! they lurk inside, walk around it, ask about its specs and
receive great props. When I pull into gas stations people of all ages seem to just walk up to the car
and compliment it and ask how much$ and how fast$.
I find that people who know what the s2000 is give it more appreciation, and show alot of admiration
for the car.... its great sometimes hearing someone tell there wife, come here, come here look at this car it
has a 9000rpm redline blah blah... and the wife tries to act interested she only thought it was cute for her.

Negative;

(1)
I was coming down sunrise with GOMASON another s2ki.com member in a '02 sebring silver metallic and we were stuck in traffic, well this is around dixie highway where the neighborhoods are poor housing, low economy and poverty. Well there are these 2 young black guys about late teens walk in front of the car and they start laughing at me and my car, and this black kid sais WHAT A FU*KING UGLY CAR, WHY DONT YOU GET A FERRARI CRACKER!!!! and I just ignored him...

(2)
I was at towers in Pembrooke Pines where over 300 cars meet up and show off what they got, well im driving in front of miami subs and these 3 guys are walking by about 15 feet away and one YELLS!! WANNA RACE THAT PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!!! again I drive off and ignore

(3)
I just unfortunantly found my car keyed yesterday while I was washing it...

oh and last but not least this idiot kid in a blue pickup at a redlight when I am about to race my friends 98 cobra are revvving up and im at around 6000 to launch and the kid yells out. HEY MOTHER FU*KER I SMELL RICE BURNING!!!!

Jealousy..... im 20

I've had about the same experiences as everyone else here. The reactions I get range from sheer admiration to utter, seething hatred. I think it really depends on where you live, too. I used to live in Columbia, SC-- when I first got the car. I got so much attention while driving, that I got really sick of it. All I wanted to do is get to work and get home some days-- but I had to deal with teenage ricers, stupid rednecks in mustanks, and about everything else under the sun. I've had people pull over because of my headlights, then start to tailgate me flashing their high beams, I've had stupid college frat boys spit beer at my car, and I could rarely drive on the interstate around there without stupid ricer punks trying to race me. I actually started dreading driving the car and thought about selling it and getting something much less flashy (like an Acura TL or something).

Now I live in Lawrenceville, GA and things are completely different. I think it has alot to do with the fact that there are many other S2K's here than in South Carolina. So, I don't even get a second look at the stoplights around here... no more rice comments, no more revving at stoplights, ahhhhhh... I get get from point A to point B with little to no fuss (unless I want it...)

So, I think it has alot to do with where you are. And from what I hear, Texas is pretty bad... though I would like to nominate Columbia, SC (and the surrounding area) as a close 2nd.

This car gives jerkwad sales people an excuse to talk to you at the gas station pump. I've had three separate encounters: 1)Guy was slobbering all over it, then tells me his boss drives like 10 exotic cars, and oh, he works for Quixtar 2) This guy asks me 50 questions about it, then invites me to an Amway meeting. 3) Guy pays me a dozen compliments on it, then asks me how comfortable I feel with my life insurance situation.

The only problem I've had(I'm 44 years old)is everyone and their brother wants to race you.....example...a few weeks ago here in Los Angeles it was about 85 degrees on a Saturday,I've only owned my s2k since last October and have really only been able to drive it to and from work so I thought,what a great day to drop the lid and drive up the coast.As I'm doing about 80mph I look in my rear view and notice this guy in a Mustang Cobra darting in and out of traffic.Thinking he's in a hurry to get someplace I move over to the right to let him pass...what does he do...runs right along side of me for about three miles,then shouts "what's a mater dude,no nads"and takes off.....like I need this at my age.

So far, always positive.
Most people appreciate a good looking car when they see one.

After just 6 weeks of ownership and 3500 miles, I've only gotten 2 CUTE remarks, one from my friend's Mom so I guess that's OK, and one remark about it being a new Miata when it was dark and I had the top down. Up to now I've ignored all the tailgaters who want to race.
