People always ask what it is, or how fast it is, things like that. It's funny how 110K+ were produced and so many people are clueless about the car.

I don't nearly as many mistaken impressions as I did back in 2001. Heck, you new owners don't even wave any more...
I stopped waving because some people actually roll their eyes or laugh at you for waving at them, as though it's lame of you to wave at a person with the same car as you.
I used to wave at every S2K I spotted, but 9 out of 10 times, the owner wouldn't wave back.

In the last year I've probably seen only 4 S2000's in my state. Since buying the car, I've seen two. Its definately rare, I see 50 times as many Z4, Z3, Boxsters and 350z, practically daily.

So one day I'm riding shotgun in my friend's Mitsubishi Eclipse...

A Berlina Black AP1 S2k, debadged passes by us in the freeway, which catches his attention...

Him: Hey, what the hell is that? -point- Is it a Porsche or some really modified Miata?
Me: ...No way in hell is that a Miata. That's a Honda S2000.
Him: Aw, it's a Honda? Man... looks friggin' sick though I'd take an RX-7 over it.

See, to us...a black AP1 that's virtually stock is like seeing a Civic or a Camry. However to those that drive Civics and Camrys, this car is something very special. It's a rarity that many of us forget about because we see it daily. It might have been the condition of the car, but my guess it was just as much the car itself.

After all, the first time I saw an S2000 was in NYC...I was 12 and I thought it was some kind of really expensive Porsche
After all this time I can tell you that a stock S2000 will gather a lot more attention from normal people then a crazy supped up S2000. I had a 70 year old grandma pull up next to me last month and yell "nice car"...

If I had a big arss crazy CF wing on.. probably not...

As I have always said... Stoke Stook.. FTW...

Most S2000 owners are enthusiasts; it's not like waving to a fellow Civic driver. Waving takes less effort than posting in S2000 Talk anyway.

Yeah, me to. Always like to wave on the chance they do to.
