Performance technicalities for the S2000
The S2000 is a fast car from the factory but it is very sensitive to weight changes due to its small displacement. It may be already at 90% of its ( street) potential performance from the factory. in order to wring out another 5-15% one must not only concentrate on increasing power but also decreasing weight. I have done my homework and have a good recipe for those who want more performance but really do not want to get into any major engine changes.
Here is an easy way to get rid of 100 pounds.
leave your spare and jack at the house, put a can of fix a flat in the car.
There is a battery that weighs 15 lbs less for $99 , if you can not do the battery replace the battery hold down peice, it is too heavy. You will have to make your own because the aluminum ones are heavier than the stock one a lot of the time.
Replace the mid brace under the car with a Comptech replacement. The stock one is a piece of junk and weighs 3 lbs, comptech weighs 1.7 lb.
When you replace your wheels . buy a lighter set not a heavier set. Volk Te 37's are a good example. I have 16 inch TE's that weigh 11.3 lbs each. Stock weighs close to 18 lbs or better. Do not forget the light aluminum lug nuts.
Pinnacle brake system is the only brake system I have seen that is lighter. It is 26 lbs lighter than stock!
Radiator stays are too heavy but the cost to lighten them is a little steep for 0.25 lb.
Spoon makes 2 that are lighter than one stock peice.
Consider taking your air box top off. ( 2 lbs)
Run a K&N filter, Denso Irridium plugs and synthetic oil.
This is already over 100 lbs and we have not even touched the muffler which could drop another 20-40 lbs.
Now take it out and punch it into v-tec even with 2 people in the car and you will notice a difference, it may fry your brain depending on how much the passengers weigh.

And most importantly.......don't forget to 'clean the pipes' before you drive the car. Depending on what one had for dinner the night before, it could be good for at LEAST 1lb!!!
You can also travel with the washer reservoir almost empty, remove the radio and speakers, passenger seat, headrests, carpet etc.....
Cheers!

Also...
Replace the oil and fuel caps with shop cloths = about 3 ounces.
There is no need for 5 lugnuts. remove one from each wheel.
Drive naked.
(the above suggestions are for entertainment purpose only. Do not actually go and try them. I will not be responsible.)

I think Rick was trying to help here make us get a little better performance. But I think some of us here did not understand that. How the hell are you suppose to take the headrest off?? Maybe he was joking too. LOL. So anyway, good suggestions. I might consider some of them to lose 100lbs off my car soon. But I need some money first.

Seriously though, just wondering, wouldnt it be better to keep a lil weight in the back? For traction purposes?
