Default Performance vs. Reliability??

Do you all feel Honda has sacrificed some of their world famous reliability in order to increase the performance of some engine models??

The high revving F and K series motors come immediately to mind.

Both this board and the RSX boards are lit up with oil consumption concerns and engine replacement issues for all sorts of different scenarios; (blown engines, bent valves, no oil, mis shifts, yada, yada, yada)Yes, some are driver error, some are mod related, but not all fall into these categories, Why is that??

I never heard of these problems on the old B and D series motors. I had a CRX Si that went over 250K miles before i sold it. In this time, it never used a drop of oil between oil changes.

On my present ride (rsx-s), this puppy is an oilholic
I now probably burn at least 2 quarts of mobile 1 between oil changes that are 5K miles apart

What are your thoughts?

P.S.
I now pop the hood at every fill up; i guess this is the payback in order to have 90 more HP than my CRX

dont know much about the crx or the rsx, but in general any high performance engine will require more care and be less "reliable" than the run of the mild engine. it's the price you pay....
