Permanent fix to windscreen vibration/oscillation
I've been experimenting with a permanent fix to the vibration/oscillation issue(our rubber foam strip solution is temporary in that the foam has to be replaced periodically).
In a nutshell, my fix involves screwing two very small rubber bumpers into the plastic roll hoops, one each just at the top of each ear on the mechanism, on the interior side, placed so they put slight pressure toward the rear of the car against the spring tension of the mechanism.
Without the bumpers, the wind pressure pushes the screen toward the front of the car, against the tension of the spring mechanism in the hinges. Variations in the wind pressure against the spring tension causes the oscillation or vibration. The bumpers keep the screen from oscillating forward as the wind pressure varies, and the faster you go, the better they work. At high speed there is no vibration of any kind and at lower speed very little, most of it caused by road bumps.
Two small holes have to be drilled in the hoops, so this may not appeal to those of you who hate to do this kind of thing to the car. But it's a set and forget solution, good for the life of the car.
I'll be posting pictures and instructions this weekend.

Rick:
For whatever its worth went to Home Depot and purchased some clear plastic furniture bumpers. They are self adheasive. They wedge the aeroscreen in place. At 85+ there is no vibration. No need to drill as you can trim them to fit neatly and being clear they are not noticable. I think they cost about $1.59 for a pack of 6.

Rick, I purchased your 7/8 windscreen. I have completed the assembly, and I am waiting for the silicone to dry. I am a little confused about the anti vibration solution. Should I use the weather stripping you provided, or should we follow the clear plastic furniture bumper you refer to in the installation manual. Or do we wait for your permanent fix? Help GaToR
