Pet Peeve
I know this subject has been discussed before but I'm going to bring it up again.
My pet peeve is owner's not registering their VIN# numbers on the site. And, thereby changing their status from 'Enthusiast' to 'Owner'.
When I see a poster with owner status, it lends more credibility to the opinion expressed or experience.

Yes, I don't see why more people don't register as an owner. It's not like you can't just walk up to any car and see the VIN. I also wonder how many people "fake" a number off an S2000 that's on a showroom floor.
The reason that some of us do not enter the VIN is because there is absolutely no reason to give that information out. As one of you stated, you could just swipe a VIN from a dealership, so what does it prove?
I don't see where the VIN number would or could be used for anything malicious. . .so folks should definately add it in to their profile.
I have more credibility for the "owners" when it comes to some issues here on the board! But that's just my opinion.

What's the big deal? Anyone can look through the windshield and write down your VIN. Its not some secret code that gives away your bank account information..... some people are just a bit TOO paranoid.
