Default Pet Peeve

I know this subject has been discussed before but I'm going to bring it up again.

My pet peeve is owner's not registering their VIN# numbers on the site. And, thereby changing their status from 'Enthusiast' to 'Owner'.

When I see a poster with owner status, it lends more credibility to the opinion expressed or experience.

Yes, I don't see why more people don't register as an owner. It's not like you can't just walk up to any car and see the VIN. I also wonder how many people "fake" a number off an S2000 that's on a showroom floor.

I agree and try to remind owners to change their status when I see they are enthusiast yet own an S2000. I think it is an oversite on their part. Just try to remind them.

The reason that some of us do not enter the VIN is because there is absolutely no reason to give that information out. As one of you stated, you could just swipe a VIN from a dealership, so what does it prove?

I don't see where the VIN number would or could be used for anything malicious. . .so folks should definately add it in to their profile.

I have more credibility for the "owners" when it comes to some issues here on the board! But that's just my opinion.

Exactly. They are so easy to come by. So why ask for one?

Talk about carrying PARANOID to a new high. When you drive around do you keep your tag covered up and keep a piece of tape over VIN number on dash. Remember everyone who pulls behind you can easily write down tag number and when car is parked can copy VIN through windshield. How about a large paper bag over your head so people can not tell who your are and file that information with BIG BROTHER. Remember if you do not follow these precautions he will be watching you.

Also, be sure to wear an aluminum foil hat to prevent the alien mind control rays from getting to you.
