VIN + DMV Search = Name/Address/Telephone Number, etc.

That is what they are worried about.

But then, only C3 (and any other admin) is the only one that can get to the database. He says the database does not link VIN to any Name, so there is not much to worry about.

I would worry more if I didn't get my VIN put on this site and somebody else entered it first!

I had trouble entering my VIN, maybe because someone else registered it, but I talked to the admin and he took care of it for me.

Wow. Much emotion over this. As an owner with "enthusiast" tag, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Not paranoid, just no need to enter it. Although, as I said before, if it'll help the board I'd do it.

I try to take the info here and sort through it for credability. Not sure if owning an S or not makes anyone more credible about advice given.

Don't they have it where anyone cannot pull up your vin # anyway. Don't see what it would hurt if they did.

When my car arrives I'll regester as an owner. And like others have said, it's a VIN not a CC#
