Default Petty theives

I went to the beach yesterday here in eastern virginia. It is a really small beach not to many people go to. It was a nice top down kind of day so I left it down. I had 3 dollars in quarters in the change console. Came back and it was gone. Petty, some one must of really needed it.

You left your car with the top down and are complaining about missing $3 in quarters?

Were you just fishing for a new pair of insurance-supplied seats?

It wasn't the type of place where seats would get stolen. I am not complaining about 3 dollars in quarters just throwing it out there. I personally think it's quit comical.

i had the same thing happen a few months ago...

i was eating lunch, left the car with the top down for a couple hours; i was less than 100 yards from the car. when i came out, all $.97 was gone from the center console, my pack of gum was gone (bastards!), and the jackass had left the hazards on. i guess he was mad that i'd left him less than a dollar

I guess these are people who are that jealous of not being top down. Not to jynx myself, but it hasn't happened to me. Then again I only park top down if I can see my S from where I am.

i leave it down in crowded parking lots in the day time, i don't leave anything in the car that anyone could walk by and pick up (except change). and usually i lock the glove box. the only real danger in those situations is random acts of vandalism... but life is too short to be that paranoid.

Theft is a reality every where you go but there are several situations where its less likely to occur. I leave my top down in certain situations as well for short periods at a time. But I don't blame the OP for wanting to live comfortably instead of living in paranoia that every corner, there's someone lurking, waiting to steal your toll money.

Besides, I hear some parts (especially south) of Florida are rough, ROUGH on auto theft/vandalism so your cynicism is probably warranted.

I am moving back to marietta GA here soon. When I get there the top being left down won't even cross my mind.
