I made my own flexible 3D printed magnetic base for my Modifry mount, the mount just slides over the metal mount, no sticker needed. The magnetic base allows you to rotate phone easily, plus I got tired of hearing the clamoring clamp mounts.
Disregard the two cylinder parts, they were trunk bump stopper for a local S2000 owner, prevent trunk hitting his Mugen style hard top.
I know there are many threads on phone mounts, and I myself have tried many with mixed results. Just wanted to share what I settled on as the best option.
My priorities: something relatively in line of sight, stable without permanent mounting/adhesive, not too ugly, and doesn’t block the vents. This (for me) checks all those boxes: https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Swiv...7415046&sr=8-1
Sorry, couldn’t figure out how to re-orient the image correctly.
The magnetic mount is strong, leaves >75% of the vent unblocked, and the rubber “clamps” on the vents seem like they won’t cause damage over long term use. The location of the phone is also ideal, near where the modifry mount would be.
How did you achieve this! I looked at the holder you bought but it doesn't seem to have the extra pieces that allows you to mount it off to the side. Any extra info would be greatly appreciated.
I've been using this cheap one from Amazon but it's worked great. I wanted a windshield mount so that I could record during autocross and other events. It's held extremely sturdy. I did have the phone fly out once on a hard turn but next time I just squeezed the ratcheting mechanism tighter and I've not had a problem since, through multiple autocross events. Works great in addition to my gopro behind me for out the front as well as in car video overlays. I use it with the TrackAddict app as well.
I've never heard of a hook-style phone-mount before seeing this thread; so got one a few weeks ago and made a vid of it.
My vids are a bit, and purposely, drawn-out, long-winded & boring tho, lol:
