I took these photos to indicate the quality of the pile in the new one-piece carpets, although it's very tough to do capture with a camera. We're going to make a few adjustments in the fit -- it's not perfect, but we'll make it so -- but they are minor. I drove the course for our Delware Valley/Mid-Atlantic Clubs meet tomorrow with the carpets in my car, and believe me, they stay locked in place. The rubber nubs on the base keep them solidly in place. In fact, I tried to get them to slip by pushing them with my feet, but they wouldn't budge. Anyway, here are some photos.

The photos attempt to show the thickness and quality of the pile. That's my wife's new CRV in the background. By the way, the trim on the prototypes is vinyl, but it will also be available in leather (colors will match our leather accessories) and woven/braided cotton. In other words, the trim colors will match the various car interior colors near-perfectly.

Here's a shot of the Auco German mats (which until now had the thickest pile), on top of our prototype. You can tell in the photograph that the prototype pile is thicker and deeper than that on the German mats.

Finally, here's a shot of the carpet backing. Those nubs lock the carpet in place -- there's no slippage, and the post on the driver's side is no longer necessary.

I took some shots of the mats in the car, but the light was lousy and they are not very good. I'll try to take some better pictures tomorrow.

We'll have about 15-20 owners inspecting the prototypes tomorrow at the Delware Valley/Mid-Atlantic meet. Based on their comments and criticisms, we'll make final modifications and get these into production ASAP.

Incidentally, the prototypes are nylon pile. The Wilton wool version will be even more luxurious.

Rick, when the opportunity arises, could you take some snaps of the underside of the mats? I think that is a major concern, considering slide-ability and also the hole that the pin goes through on the driver's side. (hope you have it included in there)

Rick:

This sound like another excellent project you're taking on!

I have the German Auco mats but would welcome mats made from English Wilton wool.

Please keep us posted on your progress!!

Schatten,

I'll take some shots of the underside tomorrow. You'll like it As for the hole, it's not in the prototype, but we're planning to ad it.

Rick, you must be a mind reader. I have bought several of your products for both my previous 01 and current 02 S2000's and have always been thrilled with the quality and your sevice. The ONLY mod that I did not purchase from you was my current one piece Muz Mats that I have to say I have been displeased with since day one, sorry Muz Man. The fit and quality have not been up to my standards, and especially for the price of these mats! I have been wanting to email you and ask that you consider making a one piece mat, and now I can just wait till you have the final modifications completed and then just order. AWESOME!!!
Two suggestions if I may, Make the driver side available with either 1 or 2 anchor holes due to the 02 models having two anchors as opposed to 1 on previous models. And also offer as an option a heel pad for the driver side.
Other than that, just let me know when I can order?

Rick, rub your shoe on it a couple of dozen times to simulate wear and see if it fuzzes. My other one piece mat does so badly that I just threw them out after 1 week of use.

s2ktaxi,

I've done that already, but way more than 2 dozen times. I had the same experience with other one-piece mats, which is why we went ahead to develop these. I wouldn't put up with pilling of the carpet in my car, so I wouldn't expect anyone else to put up with it.
