Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to report that I picked my Silverstone metallic 2001 #972 today at D&C Honda in Tenafly, NJ. . . I was a little nervous (it was snowing & I've been driving an automatic Prelude SI for five years) but I only stalled out a couple of times, though I was able to get the rear end out a little. . . Knowing how to ride a motorcycle REALLY helped. . .

By the way, anyone else have an S2000 in northern NJ?

My first driving impressions:
The car is sweet.
I turned a lot of heads coming home.
I still can't get over the 9K redline (though I haven't VTECed yet).
The rear spoiler looks great.
I can't wait for the hardtop to be available in the US.

Bottomline. It was worth the wait. . .

A few notes:
I'll be installing Rick's accessories tomorrow. I'll also be finishing the garage "cleanup" project tomorrow. . . (we have a 3 car garage, but the Prelude will have to spend tonight outside).

For those wondering, I PAYED MSRP for the car & the spoiler: (32,740 + 489) + tax. . . No forced options, and I'll probably get the extended warranty later this year. . .

Tomorrow, as long as there's no rain, I drive top DOWN

Thanks for all of the great posts on this site & H-A.com.

I'll post pics next week. . .

And yes. . . I had a big grin as I drove home from the dealer

Hi Iceman,
Congrats! It was the same dealership where I purchased my s2k. I'm actually in NYC.
which salesman helped you?
Mine was Doug.
I ended up paying $500 above MSRP, no forced options.

Congratulations Iceman. DC is a good dealership. I tried them earlier in the year but they still wanted over MSRP. So I wound up ordering my car from Madison. Am I thinking of someone else or was it you who was going to buy your car from Honda of Madison too?

Hopefully I'll have my red S in the next few weeks. I heard she was built on 12/5...same birthday as Strom Thurmand only 98 years younger!

Let us know your impressions once you've had a chance to try it out. Hopefully the weather will warm up here a little.

Hi FURIO G,

You're right. . .

I was going to get my car at Madison Honda. . . Back in February, D&C originally wanted $1,500 over MSRP (even though I've been a long time sales/service customer with them). . . So I kept looking, and on the advice of this board went to Madison to get an '01. . .

Long story short. . . In August, I brought my Prelude in for service at D&C I told the service manager I was getting an S2K from Madison (I told him about the price difference). . . He spoke to the Owner and they reluctantly agreed to MSRP on their last 2000 model (silver/black). . . I turned it down because 1. the car had been sitting OUTSIDE on display for months 2. If I waited a little longer I would end up getting an '01 for the same price. . .

So finally they agreed to MSRP on the '01. . . I took their offer because I trust the service department, its closer to home and I knew that my car would be here sooner. . . Definitely worth the wait. . .
