Default Picking up new car

Hi,

I'm picking up my new S2K in a couple days.

Any advice on what to look for when I pick up the car? I'm thinking fit of body panels (door, hood, trunk, etc), paint finish. Anything else to particularly look for?

Thanks!

Didn't there used to be a checklist for taking delivery on this website a few years ago? If it is still available it isn't so obvious where it is.

Check the top carefully. When I picked up mine I gave it a quick once over, lowered it and didn't put it up for a month. Well dealer must've put a slice in it while removing plastic protective covering and I didn't find it for a month. By then the dealer was like take a hike.

Strakes and spring spacers are the first thing that come to mind. Oil and tire pressure before you drive off. Observe break-in reccomendations and enjoy. Congratulations.

Check to make sure the oil cap and other caps are tight under the hood before you drive off! They left the oil cap loose on my brothers when he bought it and it fell off during a drive.

Also, operate the top a few times to ensure nothing is wrong.

Check for scratches and dings really well as the service crew might have been careless in the shop.

Tell them to not even think about putting dealer decals on the car, and no tags on the front (unless its a state law for you).

Oh, and make sure you have both bumper plugs for the front license plate holes, they left mine out.

Oh and one more question: how many kilometers (or miles, I'll convert) is typical for a new car/S2K? I don't trust my dealer. Thanks!

Congrats on your new purchase. Typical miles should be under 10 unless it was delivered to you from another dealership.

if you plan to baby your car, you would want to make sure the dealer does not wash it... you should do that yourself- a good wash and wax when you get it home to prevent the swirls that dealers are known for giving you.
as posted above, i know there is a thread on everything to look for-
i searched and could not find it...

here is another thread on the dont let the dealer wash it topic:
