Default Please help...

I am hearing a noise below the shifter...clutch. My dad calls honda and asked about looking at it and getting a new one installed. Service rep says "well, it depends on how he has been driving it!" My dad says "You know how that goes." I am guilty of some clutch drops if you know what I mean. I think I am screwed. It makes a weird sound like something is loose. Not crisp as it wa when I bought it. I am wondering how much a clutch for this thing costs minus the labor charges. My dad can change the clutch. WTF I think i'm screwed!!!!!!!!! No more clutch drops

The clutch itself is not that expensive, it's the labor that brings up the cost. And since you dad can install it, labor is not an issue now (moneywise). It would be a good time to upgrade the pressure plate since you're going to be in there.

A Toda flywheel+stock friction disc+ACT HD pressure plate would put a smile on your face!

SuzukaBilly,

I recently had a new clutch put in my '02. The total came out to just under $800 out the door. Parts cost about $300-$400 of that and the rest was labor. I went with OEM parts.

I'd make sure you really do need a new clutch, though. The clutch in the S2000 - at least mine - exhibits some odd behavior at times. It sometimes makes rubbing noises and doesn't seem to grab all that hard. These and other things are more noticeable in the S2000 than in a lot of other cars.

Cyber_x,

that makes sense because sometimes I notice this noise, and sometimes I don't. I think it's because I pay so much for this car and it makes me paranoid. Hopefully I am making a mountain out of a molehill. But $400 dollars is not that bad. Thanks for some numbers! I will see what Honda says and go from there.

ur a big help, cyber...

The whoooshing, hollow sound is exactly what I have, but I just couldn't find a good word to describe it, and it's at the top of its travel. Mine only has 10k on it though. Either way, I'm not gonna sweat it cause it's either ok or only gonna cost me 3-400 dollars .
