fellow s2kers!!

i just wanted to know if anyone out there knows about splicing and tapping the ap2 harness wires to ap1 wires are easy? do you just match the color when tapping them or do you have to know which wire is for what?
is it as easy as hooking up a aftermarket stereo? because i know you pretty much just have to match the wires when installing a aftermarket radio...

please help appreciated and thanks in advance!!
