You are being told they won't fit because they won't fit. 9.5" rim with that offset will actually stick out of the fender. It's possible you may get away with running a more narrow wheel/tire combo but it certainly wouldn't be optimal.

Don't do it.

You could probably get away with a non-staggered setup with the 17x7.5 +45 but I'd be willing to bet the handling would be iffy at best. I say that because you would be removing the width differential (aka stagger) Honda built in from front to rear.

Perfect for a drift car - not so great for overall performance.

FWIW, if you don't stagger, it won't feel any different than your current setup.
