Hey everybody,

I'm thinking of purchasing another s2000. I just wanted to get a feel of what you all think, and maybe help me out with your opinions.

I'm debating between an 06 ap2 (red with black interior) with 40xxx miles or an 03 Suzuka blue (with blue interior) with about 25xxx miles. Both vehicles are one owner and the maintenance history for both cars, according to Carfax, looks pristine. All services for both vehicles were done at a Honda dealership in very tight intervals, so it really looks like the owners took care of these very well. Both prices are exactly where they should be. Both are bone stock, unmolested, and mint condition.

Here's my dilemma... Since I already have an ap1, I really would like a red ap2. But the ap2 I mentioned has 45xxx miles. The ap1 has almost half of that, but I really don't like the blue interior. I looked at a thread on s2ki discussing opinions on the blue interior but I'm having a hard time with this decision. If Honda sold brand new s2000's, I would have jumped on that because I'm utterly obsessed with these cars; which is why I'm buying my second

What do you guys think? I'm heavily biased towards monochromatic colored cars, but I really like how low the mileage is for each car and that, in turn, will bring me a lot of peace of mind.


Any opinions would be greatly appreciated and taken into consideration... this is killin' me!

I hear you man I'm going the other way. Have an 06 Berlina and just getting ready to pick up 02 Spa this weekend. The queen thinks I'm crazy but I have always been looking for the Spa. I would try the AP2 if I already had an AP1. Good luck either way. Later BD

You said you really don't like the blue interior. That type of statement makes the decision easy, IMO. Don't get one with a blue interior. I know some people love the blue interior. I personally don't and wouldn't buy one. I prefer to leave those for the people who really would love them.

Is there some law saying you must choose between only those two S2000s? Seems to me that, unless there is some compelling limitation that says you must choose between these two cars only, there is another option: you could continue looking for exactly the car you want.

I would buy the 06 because it is AP2 and because it is '06+ with DBW and Stability Control and has a flashable ECU -- and because I don't like Suzuka Blue especially with the blue interior but hey, that's me and not you.

I like the rawness and original intent behind an AP1, but you can't go wrong with either. If you plan to do any tuning down the road, I would go with the '06.

you can easily tune down the blue with black door panels and black mats.

I have a 06+ and if you plan on modding I would not touch it. I have been calling it an AP3 cause a lot of AP2 parts do not fit it. Returnless fuel system without a fuel pressure regulator can be a problem to. 2005 is the AP2 sweet spot.

The 06 has relatively low miles in the big scheme of things. I bought my 09 with 31K 3 years ago and I am just hitting 52K. I think the blue will grow on you the way all the colors of these cars grow on the person driving them. DaGou had good advice.

Red (IMO) does not age well. I am not sure it is the strong UV light out here in the West but after a few years the red on all the cars I see degrade much more than other colors.

With the 06 you do get the mechanical advantages SheDrivesIt mentioned plus 3 years newer hoses, belts, and seals.

Either get both or get the blue 06. I guarantee in a couple of months you will admit you love it.

I decided long ago (OK, a year ago!) that I wanted an '06 or later for the improvements and technology in the car. VSA for starters. Guys buying new in 2003 didn't have this choice. And all used cars are someone's discards.
