Let's also not forget that the original Shelby Cobra was a (very) heavily modded English AC!

I had a similarly shocking experience at a local car show when a silver S2000 came to the show where Brad and I had our S2000's. The silver pulled in absolutely COVERED with stickers...I was appalled, shocked, dismayed.

But I met the guy, shook hands with him and found him to to be a very congenial gentleman. After our conversation, I found out that this was the S2000 that did the One Lap of America and the stickers were all of the sponsors that paid for the trip. The sponsors are a critical part of the journey they took. I didn't chastise the guy, I didn't lambaste him for all the stickers (and there were DOZENS!!), I got the whole story about the reasoning behind them.

I might suggest that some people practice that before firing shotguns in every direction. Power6spds, more power to you, man. Get that sponsorship and kick some major SCCA ass! Sorry for the beaing you took here, I found it distasteful. I applaud your efforts...

Now, shut up and drive!!

I wonder if some of these critical posts don't come from a deeply seated sense of insecurity.
I thought we were all supposed to be warm and fuzzy now.

Cheap shot.

There IS a difference in cars modded by the factory and cars modded by do it yourselfers. The factory mods are generally top quality. Do it youselfers can range from top shelf to some kid bolting on a garbge can exhaust.

Generally the cars you see on the street covered with stickers are all show and no go.
If Mario is getting paid (or even receiving substantial discounts on parts) to have those stickers there then there is a reason for them to be there. Most people are not getting paid for putting them on their cars.

I still think it ruins the car but he has his reasons and that is cool.

I think the R&M intake is more show than go also because the design appears to suck more hot air from under the hood than the stock air box. I believe this has been documented in other threads. If Mario is going to be racing this should concern him.

Mario,

Would you be interested in replacing the Wheelskins thing with a shrunk fit perforated red/black leather cover that looks like it came out of the Honda factory? 1Randyc and I will be starting a wheel exchange for this purpose once my car arrives.

I'll have the red/black wheel on Wednesday and will post some pictures.

Luis,

Remember the famous article about the "modded" S2000? It did not stop as good as the stock car because the ABS pump could not keep up with the Brembo calipers. This was a suposedly reputable shop and they did like $20,000 worth of mods to it and the resulting "improvements" were next to none and as in the case of the brakes WORSE than stock. All this with their demo car that they submitted to the magazines for testing.

When BMW "M" or AMG mods a car they are dropping in bigger engines or boring out existing engines and replacing pistons, rods, cranks, etc... with forged pieces. This goes beyond the "bolt-on" stage and is beyond what most "backyard tuners" are capable of doing. They also have extensive racing programs to help develop these parts. Mugen and Spoon are close to this level I would venture to say but they are not building factory waranteed versions of Hondas that I know of yet.

I rest MY case

Spec, RM CAI looks great and makes the car sound good. I was able to install it by myself within 2-3 hours, however you will have a problem running the scoop flex hose around the radiator to the Cold Option pipe. Everyone that I have spoken to has the same compliant. It will take a little manipulation of the flew hose, but eventually will fit.

Good luck.
