I just wanted to know what i can use to polish the lips of my ssr professors. I used wheel cleener by black magic and it left some spots( NEVER USE THAT CRAP). I want to polish them and wonder what i should use?

i use soap and water. wheel cleaner can strip the finish off rims, especially Honda ones.

 

For washing wheels, I use p21s, its totally non corrosive and still cleans fairly well. Most of the "spray on-spray off" wheel cleaners will quickly begin to damage the finish on your wheels

Most wheels now come with a clearcoat similar to what you find on your paint, becuase of this you wanna be careful when you you a metal or aluminum polish on them. Instead try something like Klass all-in-one which contains both a polish, as well as a synthetic wax that will hold up fairly well to the heat on the rims. you can also you any type of carnuba wax to add a layer of shine and and some protection against brake dust and grime.

 

Man, I know this first hand. I need to repair the finish of one of my wheels.

 

P21S is good stuff, a little pricey, and if you clean your wheels every week, just carwash soap and water should suffice. P21S is good for the brake calipers (car wash soap isn't strong enough to remove all the dust off of calipers). For a less expensive solution, I like a dilutted Simple Green and water. I spray it just in the inside of the wheel & caliper and use car wash soap with a wheel brush after.

In terms of polishing the wheels, think of them as the same as the paint on the car. I think it's OK to use a one step "cleaner wax" to save some time and make it easier to wax inside the wheel, but I wouldn't use the one step on the paint of the car.

 

I got a bottle of Eagle One wheel polish for free and it works great. Polishes my rims realll nice.

 

I detailed my rims yesterday and I used P21 then CLR(calcium, lime, rust remover) then I finished them off with Nature's Miracle Pet stain remover which really is one of the BEST odd stain remover on the planet and biodegradable as well.

2 coats of Zaino later and my SSR GT3's glow!!



The CLR even worked wonders on the rotors taking out the rust effortlessly.

 

I don't know about your wheels so be careful. But on the OEM wheels I am a BIG FAN of the fairly new DuPont Wheel Cleaner with Teflon. I have been using it for several months and IMO it works as advertised. The more that I use it the less brake dust and rust off the rotors sticks to the inside part of the wheel. I can go for over a week without having them look crappy.

I give this product
