Last night i went and bought(leased) a new 2003 silverstone on red S2000, the only one left in the Greater LA area, or at least the only new one i could find. As part of my bargaining i managed to get them to throw in window tint and a car cover.

what window tint should i get on this car?
I was thinking just to get 50%. My mercedes had 35%. and i know 5% is waaaaaaay to dark for my taste.

what do you guys think?

 

huh, I had reflexive tint on my silverstone, it was the best thing ever.

 

got my windshield tinted as well, big difference!! I got Quantum Metallic tint, looks sharp on my suzuka. 16% on all windows except windshield.

Go with 35% tint.

 

I think tint is a guys worst enemy. What if you have your top up and pull up next to some ladies? they gots to see that whats inside that car is just as good as whats outside. I originally said it's the single guys worst enemy, but married guys probably need the pick-me-up more than single guys with an S.

Being that I live in the desert, I'm thankful that I got mine tinted. However, I got pulled over on my way to AZ because of it. I never knew how dark it was until the cop pulled out his little electronic tint measurer and put it on my window. Apparently I have 4% tint. $110 ticket.

 

Well, since you are in Cali, I would reccommend that you do 5% in the back window, max of 35% but reccomend 50% on teh sides and dont do teh front windshield. If you get pulled over and the cops dont like it, tehy can impound your car for the tint on teh windshield and a fix-it ticket for the sides. Hope that helps.

 

Technically, by California law, you aren't supposed to tint the front windows. Since the S2k only has two windows, those are considered front windows and non-tintable. However, I did have 85% tint (not very dark, I admit) on my del Sol side windows as well as a reflective tint on the rear window. I never got pulled over for it, thank goodness. But my sister's husband DID get pulled over for having tint on all four windows of his Accord and got a big fat ticket for it, too.

1FastS2k: I thought window tint was legal in NV? Or can it not be dark like 5%? That sucks you got a ticket, though

 

The cop said 33% in Nevada and 28% in AZ.
