You can get 26 mpg in the city if you drive like a grandma. Everybody's gonna be passing you tho.

Deceleration kills it worse. That's all gasoline energy you are converting to heat in your brakes.

I get approx 9mpg on the racetrack. A lot of this is about how you drive the car.

But some of this is about the car itself. If you can't afford the gas, buy a bike.

Thank you, Mike. Somebody else gets it. (brakes as a mileage killer)

The less you are using your brakes the more efficiently you are driving (from a fuel consumption point of view at least.)

I get around 21 almost all city. I drove a couple tank-fulls for mileage, coasting a lot, short shifting, etc, and got about 26. Then I computed how much a week I was saving. I went back to having fun.

I normally get about 24 to 25 and that is combined city and highway with the top down. As said above, make sure that your tires are properly inflated, and that your air filer is clean (which you confirmed). Other than that I would recomend gentle acceleration and trying to conserve momentum. Dont race up to a redlight only to have to stop and start going again. Try coasting a littlle to see if it will change. As far as your cruising RPM goes, the only way that you can change it is to install a different final drive ratio. If it matter, I get much better mileage with the top up. On a recent highway trip, I go almost 32.

Right up until you crash.

Thanks for all the input. I filled up today but it only took 8.8 gallons but the gauge showed 1 bar, so I now think the problem has to do with the fuel gauge. I might have to take it to honda and get it calibrated.

I just drove from PA to south FL this week and averaged 32-35 mpg...avg speed was low 80's with high at 95 steadily in some spots. I'll keep ya posted on what it's like for the ride up starting tomorrow.

i think some of the "town" mpg ppl are claiming isn't true "town mpg". cause seriously places like nyc is like a stop sign every block or a signal every block with tons of traffic wherever you go. you're constantly stopping and accelerating so i think that kills the gas..

i might go get a air filter tmr...it's been a while.

I'm around 24. The S2000 is not a hybrid.
