I have honestly never gotten worse than 20mpg, and my best tankfull on a long trip was 31.5mpg at about 80mph on a cool night and the car was loaded down with about 200lbs of stuff and two people . . .
I can still get about 30
If I open it up and run hot into 7-9k rpm It still doesnt drop below 20mpg . . .

Maybe mine is special ?

I've noticed relatively poor fuel consumption as well. . . I have 374 miles on my 2 and it appears (via approximate calculations) that I'm getting around 19/gal. . .

Note: none of my driving has been above 4500 rpm. . .

28 - 31 mpg on road trips. 21 - 25 mpg in town. I don't pay pay much attention to the rpms when I shift. Just shift when I think it sounds like it is time to.

Last couple of times I rode my motorcycle I found myself over revving it. Didn't have the problem before.

I usually get somewhere between 17-19 mpg.
I also over rev my poor old MR2 few times when I switch cars. Never had that problem before I got my S2000. This engine in this car puts almost all other 4-cyl engines in shame.

I used the trip meter...90 miles...my tank read half full...i divided the S2K's fuel tank capacity (13.2) by 2 which is 6.6 and divided 90 by 6.6...which equals 13.6 or roughly 13-14MPG

Fill that tank back up push the trip button and tell us in a week what you MPG was for that weeks driving! Im sure it wont be 13-14mpg.

There is quite a big discrpancy among peoples highway driving MPG I usually get spec. 25-26 mpg. Our car is not trated to get 26+mpg! How these people do it I dont know. Though 14mpg with not spending the whole time above 7,000 RPMS!

actually y2ks2k, i've noticed that my s2000 usually reads empty at 11 gallons, not the 13.2 posted in the manual. redo your figure at 11 gallons and you'll see the RIGHT numbers.

I agree with Hype's comments. Also the dealer probably didn't top off the tank after the meter cut off the flow. Bottom line is you didn't burn 6.6 gallons. Bet your next reading is around 20 mpg's.
