poor honda service
wanabe,
Sorry to hear about your bad experiences at Norm Reeves. I actually bought my Prelude from them and had a bad experience with their financing people. I think that dealership is a little too big to take care of you properly. They are the No. 1 Honda dealership in California as far as sales volume.
So far, the only dealership I have heard good things about is Weseloh, but they're all the way down in San Juan Capistrano. Guess it's better to drive farther and get freat service, than to drive closer and get crappy service.

Wanabe - I really think speaking as a group pulls more weight. It would really drive the message home if a group of S2K owners were to complain about a particular dealer's service. I am not sure exactly how you could go about this - maybe try to post in SoCal forum and see if Norm Reeves has pissed anybody else off.
Also is there any possibility that S2000online.com or S2KCA could form a complaint cell?? That way a member could post his side of the horror story here. The moderators could review it and if the case merits fire off an official complaint to American Honda. I don't know if there are any other car clubs that use methods like this - but I feel it would be really effective.

Hey wanabe,
just because they're the biggest, doesn't mean they're the best. I think it actually hurts them more than helps them. I don't think they give you much personalized service since they are so big.

and thats why i thought they would do a good job... i assumed that if they are the largest, they must have worked on stooks before.

i thought that since they are biggest, they would have worked on more stooks than anyone else and would have done more seatbelt recalls. also assumed that being big they must be efficient.
i was way wrong!
anyone have any good dealer service experiences in L.A. area?
I had the BEST service experience with my GSR at Canyon Acura (a bit far East of LA). I'm not a fan of dealer service departments but they saved me money over the years. I don't know if they service Honda's (or if their Honda dealer next door has the same service quality).
Best example I can give is when I bought the car (year-old used) the radio theft code was triggered and the dealer I bought from didn't have the code. I made an appointment at Canyon Acura to have the radio removed to get the ID # so they could look up the #. Turns out the car was originally sold by that dealership so they looked it up in their records and handed it to me for free. They could have easily kept it for a few hours and charged me imaginary labor.
Other things they did were zero-hassle warranty part replacements, even on iffy items like a broken seat handle that could have been interpreted as abuse and a slightly noisy wheel bearing that "never" goes bad on Tegs.

Hey wanabe, I think I was chatting with you on Highland Ave in Manhattan the other day (in my silver S2K) about the seatbelt recall repair. I got mine done at Santa Monica Honda (1720 Santa Monica Blvd). They did a good job (as far as I can tell). They seemed more familiar with working on S2000s than any other dealer I've been to in the South Bay (Norm Reeves, Scott Robinson, Culver City). I plan to take my S2K there for any warranty maintenance.
I go to Independent Honda in Redondo for servicing (oil changes, etc.). They're SAE certified and the work won't void the warranty. Plus, they're very friendly and do good work.

I actually bought my car from Canyon Honda. Since it's so far away, I ahven't taken it back their for service, but the sales experience was great. They gave me the car for MSRP, way back in Sept. 99.
They had a lot of nice letters on the wall from people that got great customer service from their service department. It seems like a nice small Honda dealership that has a "homey" feel to it.
