As an added benefit, I've found that bug guts and tar don't stick to the clear bra nearly as well as they do to paint. It's a LOT easier to clean up!
I find it hard to remove the stains left on the clearbra from some bugs but other than that I am chip free at 13,500 miles. Clearbra is a savior!!!

What do clear bras run... I've heard like $500-600+?

The way I see it... in two or three years I'll probably be sick of Rio anyway. Then I'll want to settle back in with a nice pearl red. No use in spending $600 now that could go toward a nice paintjob when needed.
I paid about $650 for mine. That covered the hood, fenders, and front facia as well as the separate protection material (it's thicker) for the headlights.

If you only intend to keep the car for two or three years, then it's not worth the money. I, on the other hand, intend to keep my S2000 for at least a decade! That may work out, it may not, but because of that, I felt like the clear bra was a worthwhile investment at the time.

I've had a similar experience. Some bug guts leave a little yellowish spot on the clear bra and simply won't rub out. I was warned about this by the installer and he said that the stain would, in time, bleach out in the sun. So far, that's proven to be true so when I get one, I make sure it's clean and don't worry over it too much any more.

FWIW!

You misread. I intend to keep the car a very long time. I just would rather save the money and give myself an excuse to paint her a different color when the time comes.

Oops, your right, I did misread, but the end result is the same.

You "do" know what kind of work you're looking at to change a yellow car to red, don't you?

Good luck!

exactly. a red car with a yellow engine bay! hotness.

silver is probably the easiest to do. A MC blue S with silver bay honestly won't be all that bad.

I know, it'd be bad. However, I'm planning on doing so right about the time I turn this into my weekend toy. Red with yellow bay & trunk would be pretty cool in my book... but I might end up going with a true metal-flek yellow.

At any rate, all a bit into the future.

WOW! Talk about poor quality even below Hyundai's standards.

My S2K (2500 miles) suddenly just endured multiple (at least 5 major noticeable) paint chips. This is really astonishing to me as my other rides which I take for off-roading (Volvo and Tacoma) don't have a single paint chips whatsoever.

I'm angry because I didn't expect this from Honda, but after reading some of the threads here, it seems that I'm not alone.

I'm definitely taking my car back to the dealer as this should not happen to a $30K plus car with 2500 miles. My S2K is kept in our garage 95% of the time.

This freakin' sucks!

Trailer a new S to your garage, park it, and lock the keys in a safe.

I hate chips too, but what do you expect?
