Default Is that a Porsche or a Maserati?

Hi all. Just thought I'd post some of the experiences I've had with my car in the two weeks that I've had it. I've had 2 different people comment that my car looks like a Porsche! I don't really see it myself because I personally think that the S2000 has it's own distinctive look but I think those types of comments are cool nevertheless. In addition to those 2 people, my neighbor's 2 year old son kept on pointing at my car and saying "Porsche"

One more. I had my alarm installed last week and when I came to pick up my car, the installers were telling me that a guy with a Maserati convertible drove up. They made a comment to him about how his car looked like an S2000 pumped up on steroids. I don't think he liked his car being compared to a Honda because they said he got bent out of shape. They were going to have him pull around to the back to do a side by side comparison but after his reaction, they decided against that.

I love my car!

I'm sure Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, MY2003 Viper and the like owners would all be offended if they were told there car looked like an S on steroids. I agree with you though. I think the S2000 stands on its own and is unique amongst roadsters. Usually, most people are unaware that Honda makes a roadster. Let alone the fact that they make the NSX and that Acura is Honda.

Agreed. When I bought my S2000 a couple weeks ago a couple girls asked me what I bought and I told them, "An S2000". They got this baffled look on their face and asked, "What's that," so I told them it was a Honda convertible. They had no idea that Honda even made a convertible. Come to think of it, the only people who knew what my car was were my family, a couple of my friends (one of whom owns an S2000), and a couple people I work with (I work at The Tire Rack...so we are all car nuts here). Most "normal" people have no clue what this car is. I guess that is part of the fun with owning one. I get the same thing with my NSX...people think it is either a Corvette or a Ferrari.

I think most of it has to do with all the TV commercials that Porsche has for its Boxster. I don't think I've ever seen one for the S2000 outside of car mags. BTW, this has happened to me in the past too...people mistaking my S for a Porsche.

It seems that in L.A., no one has paid any attention to my car. I guess there are too many $150,000+ cars cruising around for people to care about a little Honda. No one asks me what it is; they don't care.

In fact the only people who have acknowledged me have been other S2000 owners. Maybe that's the way it should be!

I'm now in the habit, when people ask me if the car is a BMW or Porsche, of responding: "Please don't insult me. It's a Honda!"

I think more people confuse it for a Miata than anything else... Especially the newer ones where it seems Mazda took more than a passing interest the design of the S.

When I first told my aunt that I was getting an S2000, she asked me what that was. I said that it was a convertible sports car from Honda. She said that she didn't know that Honda made sports cars and that I should get something else.

Of course, when I told her I work at Motorola, she said "Never heard of it..."
