Default Is it possible to do a GB on Cusco Roll bar?

So now that I finally know that the 4-point Cusco roll bar still allows the top to operate, which is the main concern for most of us who want a roll bar and still want streetability, would it be possible for someone to organize a group buy on this?

I know lots of you guys want an aftermarket roll bar for DE events, and the Cusco/J's Racing one is the best looking and pretty much the least expensive option out there. Let's show some interest!

I might be interested...

How much higher than the stock hoops is it? Enough to pass the broomstick test?

I sure I've seen it before, but can you post some pictures?

Thanks,

Ted

Here is a shot of it from the HyperRev Book, assuming the Cusco is the "Safety 21" bar.

Judging from the angle presented I don't think it would pass the broomstick test. I'm a relatively short 5'7 1/4" (that 1/4 is tres important to me) and my helmet rises above the headrest quite a bit. If anything, my helmet would be even with the bar.

Perhaps Giampiero or another importer can get some info for us on how far above the hoops the bar goes.

it was my understanding that the saftey 21 bar was different from the Cusco/J's Racing bar. There are pics of the J's Racing/Cusco bar floating around, but I don't really want to try and dig them up.

Looks the same to me except without the small rear horizontal bar attached and without the padding (and of course without the stock hoops/shrouds).

Thanks for the pictures, guys.

Definitely several inches higher than the stock hoops (especially when you consider that the top ~1" of the hoop is just plastic).

I'd still like to know more before taking the plunge:

other alternatives?

meets SCCA etc. requirements?

removable? or good enough looking to leave installed (remove the hoops?)

installation method (what has to be removed/cut, bolt or weld, etc.)?

Anything else?

I don't think the Cusco or J's are SCCA legal...I've heard that the tubing for the Cusco isn't very thick...It may not hold up well in a crash.

I think best way to go would be a custom job...if someone with a Cusco roll bar could take some measurements, we may be able to fabricate something similar to the Cusco but stronger and SCCA legal.
