Possible new record price for an S2K
Record high price that is, at least in my experience...
Visited a Honda dealer in the Seattle, WA area a few days ago. Saw a '02 Sebring Silver outside with a big "SOLD" decal on it, so I couldn't get an idea of what they sold it for, and when I asked, all they would say was it sold for "not much more than sticker".
So I go inside the dealership, where I see a '01 silver/black, brand new, on the showroom floor. I look at the manufacturer sticker and see the customary $32,400 or so MSRP markings, then I look at another dealer-added sticker next to the manufacturer sticker. I see words something like "dealer added surcharge" and next to it a price, the digit one with lots of zeros next to it, four as a matter of fact, and then I see the total price of the car with the dealer-added mark-up, $43,500! For a 2001 silver/black with no options!
I made sure to tell them I'd bought mine in NJ for MSRP.

What they get and what they ask are two different things. They may mark it up so that some sap off the road will deal them down and thing they are getting a really good deal.

If I sell something for $1000 more than what I paid, I'm the bad guy? It is incumbent upon the buyer to shop around and find the best deal...it's called capitalism, free market...America.

I paid MSRP for my '02 in Jersey and $6k over sticker back in '00 for my '00 S2000! Times have changed!
Of course, I remember when the S2000 first came out, they had them sitting in Miami for $40k and $50k!
Dealers are all about the "numbers game."

First S2000 at Steven's Creek Honda had a sticker of $50,000. Complete with all Honda accessories, Volk 17" wheels and the requisite "fair market value" assessment.
What a joke, but it probably sold.
