Default possible problems?

I have located an MY03 with 32k miles on it. They are willing to take 15k otd for it. They being a large used car dealership. They have some higher end cars their. 50k used and so on. So they don't seem to sketchy. They told me the clutch was out and they had to put a new one in it. They said this up front soon as i called them... I asked how long it would take and they told me it would be done by Tuesday then i said would you take 14k for it. They told me they would call back. They didn't call back.. oh original asking price was 15.4k. Any way they didn't call back but i called them an hour later and they told me they needed more time to try and get the manager down to 14k and would call me back. We repeated this for 6hrs me calling them every hour to hear they needed more time. By the end of the day they told me 15k plus tax was as low as they would go then they offered 14k with out a new clutch but said the car is not really drivable with out it. finally they said 15k otd.

So they was a little weird to me. Them not calling back. But the real thing i am wondering about is a new clutch after 32k miles? its got a clean carfax and its one owner. What do you guys think?

carfax doesn't tell you everything: say there was an accident, wasn't reported to insurance, fixed by a body shp out of pocket, etc. this will not show up.

my guess is either the old owner didn't know how to drive, or the shit was beat. check the tires, brakes, etc....even take it to an independent mechanic.

could be a good deal with a moronic prior owner....or it could be beat with more problems in the future....it comes down to how willing you are to take that risk.
