Possible S2k purchase tomorrow
I would always avoid a demo sports car. Like Mark 355 said, think about how most people would 'test drive' a S2000 - the way they would never drive their own car. The first couple of thousand miles of an engine are the most important for break-in, and I would suspect that 1700 miles done a 1/4 mile at a time, burning rubber around every corner, would not be conducive to a long and trouble-free engine life.
Demos are not test driven, for fun. The demos are used by salesmen and directors of the dealer. The most expensive cars to the directors only. If a customer is interested in the car, the go for road test. Its not like the car was beat every day. Anyways you have a full warranty from the day you plate it.

lol
i dont know what dealerships you're referring to but I've personally driven many a car that i probably would never buy. did i drive it hard enough to warrant it being abused? probably not. but i know on several cars i was worried about the break-in period and salespeople have no idea what that is or care, so i redlined them every chance i got.
would you buy a car knowing that?
I did not get a chance to start the car yesterday when I went to the dealer so I did not see the actual milage so I took the dealers word for it that it had 1,700 miles on it. I went online today to look for different cars and found that it had 4290. The milage went from 1,500 to 1,700 to 4,290. I could tell from the wrinkels in the bolsters that there was more then 2k miles on it. I think the funniest thing is that they were not willing make a deal at all HAHAHAAHA.

I got mine as a demo. It was a MY old and had 700 miles on it. At the then-current market, I got it for about $3k below the "brand new" price and about $2k above the roughly equivalent used price (ie <10k miles, same year used).
I thought it was a good deal, and I'm happy with it.

I just went through all of this a few weeks ago when I was looking. Dealers are surprisingly stingy right now since spring is here so I don't think you'll get it much below 28k. They don't give a rat's ass what an S2K is going for on eBay or S2KI, believe me, I tried it.
