Possible S2k purchase tomorrow
I have to agree with the last 2 comments. I bought my leftover new 08 a little over a month ago. When I started searching, I was thinking I'd probably be able to pick up a new 08 for around $25k because of the economy and how few Honda had been selling across the country. I thought they'd be desperate to just clear out the slow selling S2ks off their lots. At least here in California, the Honda dealers are all still acting like there is no recession and were not at all desperate to sell cars they had left over. Even new leftover 07s they wouldn't deal that much on. They didn't care what the kbb prices were even with 10 miles on the odometer, because the fact that theirs had never been titled was in their minds what made theirs worth that much more.
Only a couple of dealers within a 150 mile radius of my home had 2009s and neither were willing to sell them for less than the full MSRP! Unbelieveable, but true. I think they were all thinking they were going to somehow drive up demand in the spring by not ordering any 2009s and holding tight onto the ones they had left until production stops completely in June. I negotiated with several dealers via internet and then a few in person and they pretty much all could care less if I wasn't willing to give them what they wanted. They wouldn't give me the time of day when I would start to play hardball. Once I decided that I wanted the wheels, suspension and red stitching on the seats that the 08/09s offered over the 07s and I could only locate 3 remaining 08s in that radius, I finally pulled the trigger on my 08 for $27,200. Not as low as I originally expected, but truly the best deal I could get in my part of the country at that time.
If getting an 08 for cheap is your priority, you're probably going to have to go with a slightly used one instead of new/untitled. The difference in price can be dramatic. Good luck.

I like the idea of buying a new car while it's still wrapped in plastic, or however it rolls off the delivery truck. However, this year I'm not finding any new 2008 or 2009's with under 25 miles on them, and several have 100 to 500 or more. I don't like the idea of a car with multiple test drives. On the other hand, if you buy a used car, even from a "weekend, 2nd car only" user, what's your guarantee that they didn't buy the car with a bunch of miles (ok, you can see the odometer statement from the original purchase, if the seller still has that). And again, good luck finding the color you want in April 2009 in a new car with under 25 miles.
I've walked away from a few cars with 100, 200, or 500 miles, but would buy one under the right circumstances (like not being able to find the one I want at the right price with fewer miles).
