well the issue is i dont live near an accessable track, but just a mt. road, and i have actually looked into the roll bar, and though it wont be approved at a track, it doesnt matter since i dont have the accessability for it. but i have seen pics of toppled s2000's with a roll bar or "style bar" if you will, that clearly helped save the interior if not the driver/passenger.
i obviously get where you are coming from, but regardless, i do not want to fund rims and more new tires right now. i have less than 1k on my tires now.
also, i do appreciate the .02 lol, im just pretty adiment about a time/place for my money. if i invest, a good deal will need to come up, i dont want enkei rpf1's they may as well be stock wheels IMO. but nonetheless, price is not in it for me to get new tires and new rims.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I've seen plenty of stock-hooped S2000s survive without a style bar.
And if you do live in Austin, you live in one of the most active autocross regions in the United States. With some of the best drivers in the nation.
Save your $280 from your style bar and put it towards the next set of tires. Or an SCCA membership and an autocross school.

lol, this car is my DD, though i have also seen the cars fine without, i have seen a much higher rate of protection with.
plus, im 20, when i bought the car, my mom, even though it is all my money, freaked about a convertable....thinking i would crash and die. she insisted heavily i get a hard top, but she didnt realize how expensive they are....which is why a hardtop is also one of my options. i am a very deffensive, safe driver though. nonetheless, the roll bar works as a safety precaution to get her off of my back
like i said, i fully accept that there is logic in your reasoning, but it isnt for me. i dont live in austin, i have moved 3 times since even my account was created here, im further north now. but it is my daily, im a full time student, working with salary because im working full time, it wouldnt make sense for me in my position to spend the money for the one/maybe two autox events i might be able to make, and then have to replace any parts. like i said though, it is not one of my poll options for a reason
down the line when my car is paid off i will think more about the extra carriculars

I have been here for over six years and I'll tell you that I have not noticed any additional protection from a style bar. The factory cockpit holds up very well.
If she's worried about you crashing and dying, even more reason to get some driver education.
Autocross won't break anything when you're learning.

well the parts "breaking" was more a reference to the extra wear and tare. i sent you a PM though, i did not mention not being interested autox events, didnt know of any in austin, but track events for me/my position are not likely anyways. and actually, there is a crash thread that has pics of the windsheilds crunched in, albeit, on probably hugely driver error situations, they do have pics showing this. several. but with the rolled over pics with any roll bar, the damage is significantly less. and as i said, its her fear...i have a clean record, no tickets, no wrecks, *knocks on wood* but it has less to do with rational fear, than reasurance with her lol....although i wish she had that mentality.
well the A=pillar and windsheilds being bent over was kinda what i was getting at.....unless i just dont wear a setbelt and hope to be shot out of the cabin pre-mid flip..
i saw your auto x poll, im going to read that up!

The A-pillar gets bent but not crushed like in a Miata or Solstice. There is no cabin intrusion with that and it's nowhere near an occupant's head. Look more carefully at the pictures, it supports the entire weight of the car without crushing. Honda designed it that way. It doesn't even make it to the roll hoops.
lol, this is going no where..i get where you are coming from, experience, knowledge, and i completely aknowledge and respect that.
but i like it.
lol.
its just a poll to gauge an idea...im not gettin rims and newer tires anyways...at least not for awhile.
EDIT: also, i noticed in the auto x thread you posted, one of the first few lines mentioned that the car is not the weak link but rather the driver....and yea. i agree 100%. hell one of my friends has a 2010 nismo and he cant drive for piss even where we drive....i would safely say most drivers are limiting the car. and most would agree. the mods usually come to try to help with personal tastes. like my exhaust, and intake. i know and tell my friends it wont do much but mid range power, but i also love the sound.
