Thumbs up Power Canards and Wing?

I'm doing some searching for a roll bar and i came across a Motorized Wing and power retractable canards.

Does anyone actually have this and does it work? I'm just curious...Seems cool

I have seen it before, but I would not want to cut my bumper up for those retractable canards. It is a cool idea, but too gimmicky for me.

The wing is probably functional, but with the automation I bet it is not very light

Also, IMO there needs to be some research done when adding parts like canards. I mean, if you just slap the canard in and whatever angle you feel like how do you know its doing its job correctly? For airfoils there is a critical angle of attack and if you go beyond that, airflow is now seperated over the top and you are no longer producing lift (or down force in this case). On the other side, if you install it at too low an angle of attack...are you really maximizing the part?

So is it a cool idea, sure, is it worth it, to make motorized ones...not to me, unless it was to change the angle of attack and make it vary automatically with vehicle speed. Highest AOA at low speeds and tapering it down slightly at higher speeds, with the ability to feather.

But personally, I only see use in these parts if you race your car, and if you race, then you don't want extra weight. And you can also deal with something permantly fixed.

Airflow separates from the bottom of a downforce-producing airfoil. You're thinking of aircraft.

Worse: dive planes (like these canards) are not even proper airfoils, they're planes, and are of course far less efficient.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. These tiny things aren't likely generating downforce much at all below ~60 mph.

Yes, I know. It was more of an example that wasn't made clear
