No doubt about it, Mustangs are certainly great for straight line accel and bang for the buck.

Of course the LS1 F-Bodys arent too shabby either, running 12s with moderate bolt ons too...

You know fellas, at the end of the day it doesn't matter how fast your Mustang is...it's still a Mustang, and I'll walk first. Most people who hear me say things like that jump to conclusions, and just so you peeps don't...I'll explain. It's not an "American Car" thing, it's a finess thing. Those cars are just so archaic. They have no finess at all. I suppose it's the Muscle car idea of brute force knocking everything around, it's just never appealed to me. I'd rather drive my car at 30mph forever than to own a fast Mustang/Camaro. I say, buy the car that you love, and if its not fast enough for you...MAKE it fast enough. Don't mean to step on anyones toes.

Sunchild: "Fair enough. I can rephrase without name calling: I think that idle discussions about street racing and kills are indicative of sexual insecurity, and are on the sub-third grade maturity level."

I think we can all safely assume that the SChild's been shotokaned/karate chopped/jackie channed upside the head a few too many.

the only thing lethal weaponed about you is your fu-ked up lawyer mind that f-cks you over everytime.

I guess that leaves the Corvette as the American car that can do both the straight line and the corners

Heck, if you want to go fast, get a Buick GN

a throwback to the muscle car days of the fast box...

It really is all about what you want in a car. I wanted a roadster, and due to my going back to school, a Vette ragtop was out of reach.

I really didnt want a Mustang due to the build quality... same for an F-Body. I was too "big" for a Miata (not that I'm a big guy, but the Miata didnt have ANY interior space in my opinion.

Plus, the S2000's rarity helped my decision...

I had a friend that was into modifying Mustangs and bought a Texas DPS LX 5.0 notchback for 2500 bucks, and put an exhaust system and NOS on it and ran 12s easy... you cant beat that for bang for the buck... oh, he did have to replace the water pump when he got it...

Basically, you have to enjoy what you drive for you... not because its the "best" car out there... whats best for you?

This has lived a long life, too long IMO, and it's time to retire it.
