Prices On Grind Fix??
I talked to my trusted Honda service manager, and he mentioned that the problem is that such an invasive procedure always takes longer that Honda estimates (probably more like 10-16 man hours to do it right at a typical dealer service center) and requires one of the senior technicians to do the entire job. He had no problem covering the service under warranty although he did recommend I wait until closer to my warranty expiry so that I could 1) get more usage out of the existing parts, and 2) wait to see if Honda updates the TSB with a different solution (something they do frequestly). SInce the grind has been intermittant on my car, I have not done mine yet, but have a promise that it will be covered.

I do not know why dealers would not agree to perform the grind fix. The TSB indicates that the job is just over 8 hours. Hey that can keep one of their guys busy. I assume the have a labour rate with Honda for the fix.

The dealership has to put their best guy on it for starters. Then since it is such a rare car for them usually it becomes a teaching process for other techs to learn how to do it. My dealership spent a few days on it so they couldn't be making any money on the deal. A second tech worked along with the main guy. As they do more of them it will take less time but my dealership was taking no chances.
I can see where some lesser dealerships would try to blow you off so they don't tie up their best guys. It cuts down on the amount of bread and butter work they can do.
Find a quality dealer to do the work even if you have to go out of state.
