Thumbs up Pro Autosports 7lb flywheel...

I noticed that the pro autosports flywheel is an astonishing 7lbs...for those of you that have it, how has it affected driveability of the car? I'm carefully weighing my options for what flywheel to go with, either comptech's (9.xx lbs), fuji racing (8.8 lbs), or now this flywheel...

also, their crank pulley is 3.6 friggin lbs lighter than stock ?? Ricks pulleys all combined only shed 1.69 lbs... I'm seriously interested in both these products. If anyone has personal experience with either of these products, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

I have a clutchmasters flywheel that weighs 7 pounds and driveability is not affected at all. On the contrary the car picks up quicker.

Does the lighter flywheel make the car more like a switch as opposed to smooth when coming on and off power?

3.6 lbs lost for the crank pulley? holy crap... I'm guessing it's titanium? How much is it?

The clutchmasters flywheel and the pro autosports flywheel look to be the same thing. There is atleast one other that shares this design. Tha assumes that the don't all share the same manufacture too.

On the crank pulley. It does not have a harmonic balancer. So that would be a very bad idea in the long run.

Worst upgrade on the planet would be a crank pulley without a balancer/dampener. You will have damage to your crank in due with them.

you just have to feed more power when you take off as it is easier to stall due to less momentum...

its the same reason why youll get more engine braking and youll lose rpm faster when you shift up

rev matching with a light flywheel is awesome though and almost worth buying for no other reason

I have a CM 7 lb flywheel and CM stage 3 clutch on my turbo integra. Driveability is sacrificed with this combination in my experience. Without getting into the stage 3 clutch and just focusing on the 7 lb flywheel there are some things you need to know.

The revs rise and fall very fast. Under decceleration when I put the clutch in, the rpms fall very fast and sometimes the ECU isn't able to "catch it" and bring it to idle speed before it falls off. The rpms will just fall off and the engine will stall. Who knows maybe your setup won't have this problem but it is a common characteristic from what others have said with a lightened flywheel.

Idling becomes more unstable. Tuning the engine for idling has an added degree of difficulty especially with the A/C running.

In my opinion, a lightened flywheel is more of a fun factor than a performance upgrade. It makes the engine rev a lot faster when in neutral but I noticed no difference in acceleration. Also like zeus said you have to give it more gas when starting off.

When its time to replace the clutch in my integra I will most likely switch back to the stock flywheel. If I had it to do all over again I would have chosen a heavier one.

The difference between the lightweight flywheel in an integra and an s2000 is tremendous. I drive my friends type r and his engine just dies off the line. Not so with the s2000. I had a fear that this would happen to my car when I got the lightweight flywheel installed. However this has not been the case. The car if anything is quicker off the line. You just have to blip the throttle and then go. I did this anyways before I got the flywheel. Another thing my rsx revs way quicker than the s2k. I have noticed this since day one of owning both cars.
