Default problem :(

my gears all of a sudden got really hard to shift into i have to put twice the amount of force just to get it in there and sometimes with slight scraping in the gears


reverse is fine just 1-6

i bought my car used about 2 months ago
its a 2001 with 58,xxx

anyone have this problem any fix?

when was the last time the tranny fluid changed?
if it wasn't changed in awhile.. i would start there.

they changed all fluids when i first got the car about 2 months ago

hmmm, that does not sound good at all. How sure are you that no one has been inside of the tranny before?

ummm not to sure
i got a three year 30,000 mile warranty so gonna get it checked out

So the gears do not grind or scrape normally, but if you have to force the car into gear they will?

It could be a syncro issue.

yes, that is what I am thinking too, especially since it goes into reverse just fine. I wouldn't be suprised if it were a pressure plate issue or even a master slave cylinder issue. The only other thing it could be is a bent shift fork. It is nice that he has the warranty.

Just out of curiousity what car did you have before, because I noticed going from a cable type system in my K20 that the shifting of the S2k has a much more direct "notchy" feel to it. That feel goes away for a bit when you change the fluid, but fluids tend to break down pretty quick in these cars from what I hear (especially OEM fluid). Also if you live in an area with colder climate the fluid is much more viscous when it gets colder, so maybe that is what it is, if it is not something mechanical.
