Default Problem filling up at gas station

Hey guys. This has happened twice as I was filling up at the gas station. Everytime when I fill up at the gas station and just when the lever your holding on to clicks, it stops but for some odd reason it overflows a bit too much and flows off the side rear panel of my car to the floor. I thought the first time i held on too tight since i wasnt paying attention but the 2nd time it happened again as I was being more cautious. Normally when you pump gas into the car and when its approaching full, the lever will click and no spillage but i dont get why it overflowed twice on the s2000. I get so frustrated that I get tons of bottles of water and wipe it down clean until i get home and do a quick car wash.

Does or did anyone else encounter this problem and know why it does that?? I'm not squeezing so hard that it will keep pumping after it clicks so i really dont understand.

Never heard of that before. Does it do it at every gas station or just one? My guess is it's something with the pump, not your car.

Well this happened at 2 different gas stations so I have no clue. I get scared of overflowing so I end up buying less gas on purpose to avoid this but this is ridiculous.

=(

You should have the connection between the filler opening and the gas tank inspected. There may be a gap or a loose hose in there. If it pukes out somewhere in that connector, there is direct access to the passenger compartment.

I was reading in the owners manual the other day and there is something in there regarding overflow and if it happens to get the fume/vapor valve checked.

its normal...
for those of us in calif, n.y. and other states with those emissions control things on the nozzles.
i got a rubber thing that rolls up around the gas input, so that the gas runs onto it and stays off the car.

i also fill it carefully so that it shuts off when full instead of running over.
