This doesn't sound normal... I'd get it checked out. I fill up every 2-3 days and it hasn't overflowed even once...

Just to check, but you guys are making sure you put the nozzle all the way in, right?
I sure hope so because if you don't, then when the pump nozzle clicks, the fuel will backflush out of the filler hole, run down the sides of the car and onto the "floor".

The fuel tank in this car is moody. Mine will often click off and I'll think it's full, but when I turn the key on I only have about abit more than 3/4 of a tank. The next time it'll click off and I'll wind up overflowing it because I expect it to be below full. So now I fuel it up with the key on so I can see what the fuel guage is reading.

This just happened to me.. The car is 2 weeks old and now the paint is a bit clouded under where the gast cap is. I washed the car but it's still there.. Any ideas on how to get this off without killing the paint?

it could just be that the self release isnt fast enough, but i admit i have done it a couple times where it was purely my fault. i came from a prelude and was used to topping off my tank, so those two times it happened and a ton came out onto the ground. very embarassing, and the second time was when i wanted to pump out 20 more cents just to make it an even 35 bucks

I don't know if the dealer was blowing smoke up my a**, but this is what happened to me. I had a persistent CEL and took it in. The said they thought I may have overfilled the tank and told me the car is sensitive to 'topping off'. He said the fuel/vapor valve was saturated and they replaced it. I know you can get a CEL for a loose gas cap, but I'm not sure about the overfilling deal.

I'd go with "blowing smoke up your ass".
I've filled my car right to the rim. Never a CEL. They replaced the purge valve because it was faulty. This fault has been reported before.

hmm.. I have this same sort of thing happen with my Prelude. It never overfills enough to dribble down the side of the car, but often enough that I can see the gas kinda squirt out of the filler hole, bubble/foam, then fall back into the hole.

By habit now, I watch how many litres have been pumped into the car and "guesstimate" when it's almost full - then only squeeze the pump handle about half way so it pumps slowly. No problems.
