HOLD THE PRESSES! When you said "floor", did you mean that the fuel goes INSIDE the car and gets the carpet wet? OR when you say "floor", do you actually mean "ground"? If you meant GROUND and the fuel doesn't actually go into the inside of the car, forget what I posted before.

This happens to me pretty often... and I may be way off base, but here's my observation.

If I have some gas left in the tank, say 3 or 4 bars, it usually overflows a little.

When I am almost empty, say 1 or 2 bars left, it doesnt happen.

I always grab a paper towel by the pump and wipe the gas before it runs down the side of my car.

I have overfilled mine when i let the pump stop by itself, sometimes the self release on the pumps don't kick off fast enough i guess. never happened with any other car, i don't use the lock on the pump anymore.

actuallly this observation is close to mine to be honest...

when i filled up i had about 3 bars left and when i did a full fill up it, the lever clicked and i saw the overflow a bit.

but when i had 1 bar, i filled up and no overflow at all.

i hate it when that happens... waste of money and hurting my baby at the same time.

i'll try it one more time and if this happens then im gonna get it checked out

when i meant the floor.. i mean the gas overflowed from my gas tank when filling up and it spilled onto the rear quarter panel and dripped to the ground. nothing with spilling inside the car though.

Yeah... alright scrap what I said, I dont think the amount of gas you have left in your tank before you fill up has anything to do with it.

I just filled up my tank 5 minutes ago and it overflowed quite a bit.
My gas gauge only had 1 bar.

This happened to me once as well. Hasn't happened again in quite a while, so I guess I forgot about it. Made quite a mess at the time, though. And I didn't do anything different than any other time.

Just to check, but you guys are making sure you put the nozzle all the way in, right? I know that the curve of those things generally makes one have to juke the nozzle a bit to get it all the way in, so the nozzle tip touches one side of the gas pipe and the back end hits the other. You can just hang the nozzle on the gas pipe to the car, but that will result in spillover. At least that's what I've noticed on mine, and I've had no spills on the floor, ground, or whatever.
