Problem with my S2K ? Jingling sounds from engine when revving hard ??
I am going to to dealership to get it checked out soon enough, but I wanted to put this out there in case anybody has heard or experienced this... Basically, when I hit it, I get a jingling noise from the engine bay, and it sounds like it's coming from the driver's side... Anyone ?? Fact is, I have had this happen from day one but only until recently have I come to a conclusion that it might not just be a small idiosynchrosy that I should have to put up with...
thanks...
thanks...
Hello, I think I've had the same thing as you creep up now and then. it's definitely not an all-time thing.
From what I gather, it could be a MAP sensor problem. You can try and get the dealer to replace it.
You can also (as a temporary solution) tap the MAP sensor with the back of a screwdriver. That
supposedly helps. You can do a site-search for MAP sensor to see the older threads.

It's totally normal to hear these ringing sounds coming from the engine when in VTEC. It has nothing to do with the MAP sensor. Like you mentioned, it's an F20C idiosyncrasy.
No worries. Keep driving and have fun.

Three common noise sources which create "ringing":
1) Spare tire wing nut
2) Heat shield on exhaust
3) The passenger seat belt buckle
I know you said drivers side but sound does wierd stuff......check these three items and let us know what you find.
P.S. MAP sensor is way off the mark!

Gentlemen - thanks for your opinions...
I don't think the noise is coming from the engine, mostly because the source of it, but also because I am so used to VTEC engines, it doesn't sound familiar (or acceptable). Two good friends of mine also have MY01 S2Ks, as theirs do not emit this noise nor my VTEC Integra (with 125,000 miles) doesn't either.
I am going to pop the hood and tinker around before taking it to the dealership to see if there is anything to be seen or done... Already had to tighten the spare wing nut @ 45 miles and tuck the passenger buckle ever since 100 miles, so those are quickly ruled out, though the heat shield may be in factor. I'll keep you guys posted... Maybe Honda has secretly installed a turbocharger in mine that is responsible for the noise.

Mine does this too. You only hear it with the top up and the music off. The other S2000 I test drove had it too. Its normal. Remember the car has very little sound insulating material and you sit near the tranny.
My thought is heat shield.
Damn car revs so high it wouldn't surprise me if the heat shield was a little loose.
For me its not worth taking to the dealer. Too much chance they might screw up my perfectly fine car.
