For the edification of those interested, I'm an average JoeSchmo S owner; passing through the 14,500 mile mark, here's the problems encountered with the car so far:

1. Driver's window usually stops halfway through the rolldown process when deploying top. Common problem on this board.

2. Passenger side window has long, vertical gouge in it, as if something in the door panel is scratching it as it rolls up and down. Gouge is about 3 inches from back edge of window, on outside of window. Anyone else have this?

3. Rear plastic window usually (but not always) crimps as it folds during top deployment. This makes me have to reach back and "poke" it so it uncrimps. If I don't poke it, it folds crimped and, upon redeploying the top, there's an ungly Z-crease in the window. How many folks have this problem? It's intermittant and baffling.

4. Although it is not worsening, I am just getting increasingly annoyed at the feedback I get from the stick when shifting from 1-2 and 2-3. Gritchiness... as the shifter passes through the gates, it feels like a knee with an ACL problem. When the car's been driven for an hour or so and is nice and warm, usually the shifts become buttery smooth (but not always). Is this pretty much the default shifting impressions of everyone on this board? This is the worst-feeling transmission of any Honda I've ever owned (5). Will the TSB transmission/clutch replacement fix this? What's the verdict?

5. Driver's side door rattles when shutting it while the window is down. My Integra did this and it was never satisfactorily fixed.

6. Leather on steering wheel cover is starting to wear... must be my acidic palm sweat or something. I've had the car since March this year. Would send the wheel to Rick to be recovered, but I'd have to drive the car with a screwdriver while the wheel was gone. Doesn't sound fun!

7. Rear tires are almost bald. Front tires still pristine. I pretty much drive like a grandmother, but when I've had a bad day at work (which is usually every day) I like to wind it out on the way home. Tailslides are my friend.

That's the car at 14.5 K. Time to schedule a 15k service and warranty spree.

Hade the car since 2/00, 9500miles
1- nope
2- nope
3- use foam "noodle"
4- little notchness in cold temps. not of concern. This is often rated the best transmisson on the market by owners and most importantly the media.
5- nope
6- nope
7- you should expect about 11-13k miles in normal commuting driving. less than 10k if driven aggressivly, 13-15 if like PINKY you drive like an old lady.

Hey George, I have the same prob with my window not going down all the way. The parts are on order and will be fixed when they get here sometime next week. It is somewhat common I believe and is covered by your warrenty.

some of those sound common, but I have had nothing but the grind, and a VERY slight oil leak at the front of the head.I dont lower the top the same way anymore, I zip it down first. 23,000 mi.

Oh and one more problem, The Dealer. . .

Cmnsnse,
Can you unzip the back plastic window, like the Miata?

Yeppers, I always did it, my rear veiw was sooooo clear its up now in the winter,
It helps to be a contortionist if thats how you spell it, but only if you want to zip it from the driving position.

The zipper is on the drivers side when closed and its behind the velcro flaps.
Very much helps eliminate any kinks or nasty follds in the plastic since it only bends halfway when you unzip it, BUT I highly recommend getting one of those matts for the rear deck so the window doesnt get scratched because it does rest on the deck when down.
