Default Problems mounting rear license plate inside tabs?

Ever since I got my Texas plates, I haven't been able to slide the rear plate in the two tabs (at the bottom) that are meant to hold it. I can slide the plate in a little bit, but only up to the point to where it thickens (bulges out). I can't slide it in far enough to line-up the screw holes at the top of the plate. So, I just put the plate on top of the tabs, and screwed it in on top. This has always bugged me, but I figured that that's just the way it is. But, today I saw some pics on one of the forums that showed the rear plate INSIDE the tabs, where it's meant to be. Why don't my plates fit? Are TX plates shaped differently, i.e., thicker? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,
gil

Maybe you should try flattening the bottom of the plate where it would go in the slots. Mine went in without a problem.

Like with a hammer? I might try that.

Did yours go in w/out a problem at first try, or did you have to flatten the plate?

Thanks,

Mine fit like a glove. It was a little tight, but it fit. Remember it is plastic, and the tabs will flex.

God luck.

OK, I figured it out. Apparently, I was so afraid of hurting my baby, that I didn't even think about forcing the plate in. Considering the tabs are plastic, like the rest of the bumper, they were not hard to pull out enough to slide the plate in. Thanks anyway for the advice, Dario.

Thanks, Jshahan. You entered your post as I was composing mine. What are the odds?
