I was wondering if anyone here has had a problem with the RM racing lip (i.e. flying off the car). I've gone through two lips already. The first time I installed it exactly the way instructions from RM said to do so. I didnt drive the car for more than half a mile before it flew off. Second lip I bought I got larger screws and I installed washers this time. It held up much better this time. However, instead of going through the screws like it did the first time, this time it just BROKE off from the downforce being produced.
Has anyone else had similar problems?
Being that there charging more for the S2000 lip than the NSX lip, I'm a little worried about buying another one in fear that it might see the same fate as my first two.
If I had 2 of the same parts break/fly off on me and I was sure it wasn't my fault, I would try and get my money back and not buy the same thing again. Chances are it's a design flaw, if what you say is true, and is not designed to handle the extra downforce produced by installing it.
I knew they are a bit fragile and can't take a hit, but I have never heard of this. There are some guys that do heavy track driving using it.. have you discussed the failures with the vendor?
i had this lip. i had it on the car for months and did A LOT of top speed runs with this thing and never did it fly off. i used the stock bolts nothing upgraded. it finaly got destroyed by a tire in the middle of the road. now i just did the airwalker kit instead.
I suspect somehow your instalation was not right. I have had mine on for more than 12,000 miles, no problems!
The lip is very low cost, but RM Racing does a real crap job of packing it. Mine came in a HUGE oversized box and UPS charged me more for shipping than the wing cost, and that was all due to lazy packing.
I like the product and would suggest it to others, but I would tell ya, you need to tell RM Racing right up front they must pack it in a box that it fits in and get the shipping charge up front.
you saw what you asked for. the air walker kit. that monte blue has the side skirts and the front lip. the only difference in my kit is i have the cwest eyelids with it and the garage defend rear bumper.
Harry, yeah - that's what's kept me from buying one from RM. For that much $$$ I'm going to go with either CF or OEM, for just a bit more... Let me know if you make any in Aluminum, sounds like you'd have a good market...
