Default Project ASS2000

Found this on youtube last night and found the progress to be a really interesting series of videos. They take a crap S2000 they bought for $4500 and turn it into a respectable track car. I watched the 12 episodes and they are still working on the car, so I subscribed. Pretty cool

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuSohXw7e1Q I would have gone with a much higher offset wheel, but hey, because racecar

Been reading up on this at the Speed Academy blog- it's run by Peter Tarach, the former editor of Modified Mag. Good stuff- I wish I had gotten my hands on that s2000. It would have been quite a fun daily driver!

With that budget, I was a little disappointed that they didn't go the forced induction route.

5 min on s2ki they would have discovered a square tire setup will throw off the handling to oversteer.

Do they intend to make another episode to finish tuning and meet their challenge of spanking the Jag?

Yeah I would have recommended leaving the stock rear bar and just doing the Eibach front. Oh well...

I like how the canton oil pan leaked in episode 9. LOL

But when you looked at the removal he actually didn't use enough sealant which caused the leak...

Hi guys. Thanks for the share and for following our build. It's been a lot of fun, and a ton of work rehabbing our beater AP1. We still have lots in store for you, and forced induction has always been part of our plan, but we may actually throw a curveball at you on that. But we most definitely have more coming in terms of power and we will be back at the track soon to sort out the handling. We won't stop until we beat the Jag's lap time. We've reverted to the OE rear bar to help tame the rear end, and we're also dialling in a far more aggressive alignment and making some ride height adjustments based on the research we've done here along with talking with some of our S2K friends from the Time Attack world. We also have some aero work planned, so it's going to be a pretty badass salvage title AP1 by the time we're done with it
