Project ASS2000
Thats the point anyone goes for squared set up, it isn't for looks. A lot of track guys always wondered why people went squared and then negate the nature of that change by adding a front sway bar. Staggered has good turn in but it doesn't help with using oversteer to turn the car.
Most of the money was for safety, and reliability. If young adults don't understand the stress a 20-30 min session of track abuse puts on an s2000 then they shouldn't be trying to track at all. There isn't that much put into performance. Really it's just suspension, aero, and wheels and tires.

My car is SUPER bare bones (lip, cheap coilovers, wheels, tires, bucket seat; most of it sitting in a spare room) and I'm still just a shade under 20k into my car; including the purchase of the car.
Unfortunately $20,000 really does not go very far when trying to do things with quality parts.
