Yea in va it depends on what the cars value is assesed at. Your tax in va may be less or more also because you only need decals once a year. Mine just now because I didn't need decals was 75$ I believe they assesed my car at $10,500. So it's dependent on the value and if you need decals for the year.

You got to look at the big picture. My Dad lives in NC and has to pay yearly tax on his cars and a "white" tax when he buys appliances.

His house is worth 2x what mine is, but he pays about 20% of what I do for house taxes.

I may not pay yearly on the car, but NY gets it back in spades on my house taxes.

And let's not start the discussion on charging sales tax on used cars. The state already got their cut when it was purchased new. How fair is it that they collect tax every time it is sold?
One of the main reasons I got the hell outta dodge! And with blind a$$ Patterson in there, it's gonna get a whole lot worse. I guess Spitzer isn't looking too bad now.

Back on topic: Last year my tax bill was about $120 for my S and about $60 for my 2000 Nissan Frontier.

KY,

Sales Tax

Annual Property Tax

Annual Registration (Tags) Fee

Annual Filing/Misc Charges

District Tax reflected in Insurance Policy (Per Premium)

Didn't we go to war because of double taxation?

in the great state of Virginia, i paid about $900 in "personal property tax" my first year i owned my S2000. this year, i'm hoping they assess it at like 18k or something...

it's ridiculous, but i believe they don't have state property tax in VA (on your home, etc)...only county.

I pay about $300 a year for registration and a aged based tax. The older the car, the cheaper the tax.
