Yeah, I traded in my RX-7 a few weeks ago. I like the S2000 a lot better overall. I'm willing to put up with a lot for performance, but the RX-7 was too much. My RX-7 didn't run exactly right most of the time, so the S2000 is actually faster. Its also better made, more comfortable, replacement parts are cheaper, attracts more attention, is harder to steal, is a convertable, got those cool headlights, the engine sounds better... well, you get the idea.

The '7 does have better performance and can be easily modified to produce much better performance. The S2000 is pretty much tweaked as much as it can be from the factory, so it hard to get it to go much faster.

Ned M - Like Tox said, winter is an excellent time to buy an S2K. I picked up mine at the end of December for a few hundred over MSRP, and that was in Florida. The price started at $10k over, so don't let dealer hype snow you. I bet that if you spread your name around, state firmly to whomever you talk with that you'll buy for MSRP and no more, you'll get some call-backs when sales slow. Keep at it and be persistent, and you'll get your car. Be sure to come back here and gloat, too .

NedM- it IS possible to get this car for UNDER MSRP new (and w/ only 8 miles), if all the right circumstances come together. Despite the great demand and limited supply, good negotiating tactics still work. Good luck! It's a great car!

Don't buy it for that amount!!! I got mine @ $34,000 new w/ 6miles & with all your options plus ti-shift knob etc. Take a few hours drive to St Louis and get it for few K's less than MSRP. If you really interested email me & I'll set you up w/ my dealer. I still have both RX7 R1 & my S2K. Love them both. Rebuilding my '98 Type R for the tracks.

Once again, thanks all for the feedback. Good to know there are more S2000s going for MSRP than the hype would lead you to believe.

Regards,
Ned M.

Sorry, frayed, I didn't take it down. In the unlikely event I return there, I'll make sure I get to see a service history, tho.

I've been wondering whether to sell mine (then something happens to change my mind) I can't believe some of the prices people are offering/paying for used stook's. I was hoping to get 30K, but now it's looks like I can get more than I paid for. (If I sell it, which can change on a daily basis. I just bought a used Saturn for the winter. It's embarrassing, but hey!)

My story - I bought the first stook of the dealer's lot at MSRP, after that several sold for >35K, and "according" to the dealer, last one sold at over 40k! (I think he's full of "s", but reported none the less)

Ned:

I paid $34K with those options and a couple of others at Century Honda in Cincinnati with 15 mi on the odo. No way would I pay that. Like the other posts say, look around. You can sell your present car and deal strictly for cash and you will come out ahead. They will screw you on the trade-in also.
