Not to mention these things aren't related to Honda what so ever. It's all dealership handled, and priced according to each dealership. They can void certain warranty issues with your upholstery, because it's an aftermarket job and not straight from Honda. IMHO, any person tricked into buying it is obviously a fool, and deserves to be ripped off.

Yup, they probably are fools. Unfortunately, not everyone has the experience to understand these things but that doesn't mean they "deserve" to be ripped off like this. It's a real shame that there are dealers out there unscrupulous enough to screw their customers to the tune of $1,152.00 for the application of, maybe, $50 worth of product. These folks should be keelhauled as far as I'm concerned. They don't deserve our business.

Steve R.

Sounds like PermaPlate Protection, the "package protection" that was part of my $900 mark-up.

I didn't know any better at the time of my purchase; I wasn't aware of S2ki yet. If I had been, I would have turned down the car.

I'd never heard of it and since it was already on the car, and I wanted the Suzuka, I nodded yes like a lame sheep. The salesman spoke highly about the product and had the fancy colorful brochures; the 8-year protection, etc. Chalk it up to experience; I learned from this mistake.

I did all of the above to my truck for under $50.00 parts 4 hours labor this week. Undercoating $4.00 can - 3 cans. Wax and interior protectorant about $20.00. Salespeople make a lot of$$ selling this stuff they call it the aftersale.

I told my sales person when I ordered my car that it had better NOT come with any of that crap on it, because I wasn't going to take delivery of the car if it did. I also told her that I was going to be the only one to drive the car, other than the test drive the dealer needs to do. At least she listened.

I hadn't even thought of this till you brought it up. You are correct about the 3M film like Stongard. BUT, there is another type of "paint protection" that is sold primarily by dealers for newly purchased cars. This paint protection is a kind of a chemical sealant that is bonded to the paint. It doesn't "protect" in the same sense as the 3M stuff. It protects against UV rays, environmental contaminants, road salt, etc. It's a "fancified" wax and must be inspected annually and re-done if necessary (at owner's expense) in order to maintain the warranty on it. And they call it "lifetime". You are far better off if you wax or Zaino your car on a regular basis. Myself and others I'm acquainted with have had these "Permashines", "Shine Factory" shines, "Ziebart" processes on our cars. They do not keep their shine for long and we've all ended up finding out how to strip the stuff off so we could put a REAL shine/protectant on.

Xviper; I always enjoy your posts and input. Yes; the "topical" dealer or owner applied treatments do not protect like Stongard. Go to www. stongard.com and you can see the 3M rocket science film that is laser cut and installed by Stongard trained technicians. You can just see the "line" where it begins and ends, otherwise it's totally clear and helps me sleep at nightl, knowing what I have been through in the past with over $4,200 in cosmetic damage to my 02 S.

The installation by the Stongard dealership is seamless. This is a "don't try this at home" project.
