The break-in is a controversial subject. Honda says no VTEC for 600 miles. They also say no hard braking for 200 miles. It is good to seat the rings early on. It is not bad to rev it up a little bit the very first day. Like steve said, "You need to mix up speeds and rpm's". It is ok to rev it up a little bit when brand new, just don't put it in high gear, rev it up and hold it there for any length of time.

When I say rev it up a little bit, I am talking about 1st or 2nd gear. The amount of time the engine is reved up a little bit, is very, very brief because the transmission will be shifted into the next gear immediately after the brief rev.

4k rpm might be Ok for the first 100 miles or so but the owners manual say's a limit of 6k for the first 600 miles. Check it out!

After that magic 600 on the odometer, have fun!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.
Thank you Intrepid175, and RACER
I haven't had a chance to check out the owner's manuel yet, as I just got her home last night when I started this thread.
I have taken the day off today to enjoy my first real day with my new S2K, and I will also be going back to the dealer to pick up some wheel lock's.
We'll see how many miles I can put on her

Nice color combo

Seeing where you reside, I reckon you'll have the top down about 90% of the time

The manual says no hard braking for 200 miles. No RPM over 5.5 for 600 miles. I as was suggested here also avoid constant speed cruise. On freeway I vary 55,60,65,75 and back down with no more than two minutes at any speed.

I do all the above for 1000 miles and have always gotten great service out of every car I've broken in this way.

Steve

Funny you should say that.. My gf was asking last night if we could put the top down, as she knows it wont be off much when my hard top comes in
